LAW Building Project – Macquarie University

Colbros Electrical were awarded the contract to undertake the electrical design and construct works at the new LAW School Building at Macquarie University.

The new Law School includes an open atrium, light filled corridors and breakout spaces, lecture theatres, meeting rooms, staff office spaces and a moot court providing 8,600sqm of new teaching and learning spaces across 4 floors.

The new Macquarie University Law School has replaced the existing C5C building, located at 17 Wally’s Walk. The project reused the existing C5C GF and L1 concrete structure, with the additional floors (L2, L3, and Roof) being constructed of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).

The build from an electrical point of view was quite challenging due to the open plan exposed (CLT) timber nature of the building and the need to conceal all cable reticulation in all exposed areas.

Colbros were engaged to design, install and certify the complete package of electrical services to this 6 star, green star building.

Our scope of work included design, certification, commissioning, installation of lighting, lighting control systems, power, main switch boards, distribution boards, lightning protection, photovoltaic systems, security, access control, CCTV, intercom, communications and data systems.
